The Chopped Leaf Reveals Plan for Canada-Wide Expansion

Company looking to fill the need for healthy meals on the go

TORONTOMay 6, 2019 /CNW/ - The Chopped Leaf, an emerging fresh casual restaurant brand with a focus on real food on the go, is targeting Southern OntarioQuebec and Atlantic Canada for expansion. With 100 units already committed to in Canada and the United States, the company has announced plans to open at least 20 additional locations through franchise partnerships and strategic development. The new locations will create approximately 15-25 new jobs per location.

The Chopped Leaf's development is led by Innovative Food Brands Inc., as well as Founder and Brand President of The Chopped Leaf, Blair Stevens. With a commitment to healthy eating and convenience, The Chopped Leaf has a business model with proven franchisee profitability, which is why it plans to open numerous locations across Canada within the next year. This news comes after the brand saw concentrated grow since January of this year, reinforcing the demand for fast, fresh experiences. Recent restaurant openings include:

  • Vernon, BC (January 21)
  • Calgary Westman Village, AB (February 24)
  • West Kelowna, BC (March 16)
  • Cochrane, AB (March 5)
  • Tsawwassen, BC (March 12)
  • Medicine Hat, AB (April 4)
  • Ottawa expected this May

Markets slated for substantial growth in 2019 are Southern Ontario and Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Stevens is optimistic about the brand's development. "With the recent amendments to the Canadian Food Guide, Canadians are looking for nutritious and delicious food options that are available on the go. Our restaurants not only satisfy this need but do so with delectable flavours and innovative menu options," says Stevens.

The Chopped Leaf was founded by Stevens and his wife Karla, based on the strong belief that there was a gap in the quick service industry which fit their healthy lifestyle. Recognizing that there was a growing demand for real food on the go they passionately created a concept that appealed to the active, busy person that wanted a high-quality meal served quickly. With their first restaurant opening in 2009, in Kelowna B.C. Blair and Karla worked daily in the store developing manuals, tweaking recipes, and perfecting every aspect of the brand. By late 2010, they were ready to franchise, and by 2011 their first franchise location on Robson Street in Vancouver, BC.

Now, with 80 successful franchise locations opened in Canada and the US, The Chopped Leaf is actively seeking aspiring entrepreneurs and qualified franchisee partners to open their own restaurants.

"This is the perfect opportunity for those who are interested in joining a brand that has a proven record of success. The Chopped Leaf offers intensive in store training, and the opportunity to learn from experienced franchisees along with a real estate support team to ensure the location is a perfect fit for the brand and franchisee," adds Stevens.

The Chopped Leaf successfully operates on the belief of offering a "better for you" food experience with something on the menu for everyone, from vegetarian, gluten free, keto or anyone looking for a delicious meal on the go. The Chopped Leaf is offering prospects exciting opportunities to be a part of the company's growth in a nation that is becoming more focused on healthy eating.
